What is it?
The Delta Omega chapter Member of the Month is an award given to 1 outstanding general member each month. This was started in January, 2008 to encourage more general members to play an active role in the chapter.
Who chooses the Member of the Month (MOTM)?
Any member of the fraternity is invited to anonymously nominate a general member to be considered for the Member of the Month award. The yellow “Member of the Month” suggestion box is placed at the front of the room at each chapter meeting. All a member needs to do is write down the name of the person they wish to nominate and a reason for the nomination. At the last executive board meeting of the month the suggestions will be read and e-board will vote on who they think is most deserving of the award.
What constitutes an outstanding member?
The reason for nomination can be for anything! Maybe a committee chair-person felt that one particular committee member contributed above and beyond their calling. Maybe a member found a potential speaker for chapter meetings. Maybe a member offered their apartment for hosting a social event. Anything goes! Just remember that e-board has the final say.
What is the Member of the Month awarded?
The member of the month is awarded a Pi Sigma Epsilon T-shirt and official “Member of the Month” certificate at the first meeting of the following month. (For Example, the January Member of the Month is recognized at the first meeting in February.) The member photo and profile is also featured on our websites front page for the duration of the month until a new MOTM is selected.
